奧馬魯藍企鵝保護中心所在地距離市中心衹有幾分鐘的路程，是觀賞生活在自然環境中的藍企鵝為便利的景點。旺季的時候在保護中心裏歸巢的藍企鵝多達130多對，有時一夜之間就會有超過200隻的藍企鵝歸巢。我們的員工中包括一名海洋生物學家，負責對藍企鵝的各種行為與成功繁育進行研究。保護中心提供日間觀看和黃昏觀看兩種，日間觀看主要是參觀企鵝保護中心，並在暗室（BlueWing）近距離觀看白天未出海捕食的小企鵝們；黃昏觀看又分為普通席位和貴賓席位，貴賓席位離企鵝更近，衹有2-5米左右。黃昏觀看提供中英文講解服務。

則評價黃眼企鵝登陸地位於奧馬魯的南部地區，是一片海灘步道，距離市中心僅需5分鐘車程。在這裡有機會看到黃眼企鵝以及新西蘭本地的毛海豹。需注意的是，下午三點以後，遊客禁止進入海灘，但可以在高處的眺望台觀看黃眼企鵝上岸歸巢。

奧馬魯為其優雅建築很有名。在19世紀低這就是紐西蘭南島最重要海港，所以當時間大銀行、進出口公司等都造了辦公室。目前這些建築含咖啡亭，藝術館，商店等，如果感興趣你也可以實施騎老式單車。
維多利亞遺迹區的複古建築保留著完整的19世紀維多利亞的建築風格，所有建築都用奧瑪魯當地特有的大白石建成。
奧瑪魯Oamaru的Tyne St是一條充滿藝術味道的老街，它所在的這個區被稱做奧瑪魯曆史城區。Tyne St裡面的建築用的材料大部分是用本地的石灰岩(又叫“奧瑪魯石”或白石)，這種材料從19世紀開始使用。這裡面的建築風格主要是流行的古典形式，從哥特複興式到新古典意大利和威尼斯宮殿的形式都能在這裡找得到
Tyne St以前主要經營什麼的，無從考究，現在這裡主要是書店、古玩店、藝術廊、藥店，還有咖啡館、餐廳、手工製品店等等。
奧瑪魯維多利亞文化節
每年11月中旬，奧瑪魯維多利亞遺迹區(Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct)會舉行維多利亞文化節，這是南島乃至全紐西蘭最盛大最著名的節日之一。
維多利亞文化節一般會持續一周。每年慶典的主題有所不同，但相同的是其中肯定有一天(一般是周日)會有盛大的街頭集市，人們穿上19世紀的服飾走在複古的街道和建築之間，會讓你有穿越時空的感覺。

This was an entirety new experience - we thoroughly loved it! Me and my partner went to the 1830 viewing and were greeted by some very sleepy Fur Seals. Staff showed us to our seats, explained the rules, and provided a little bit of information before the waddling parade began. While the weather was wet and rainy, we still saw plenty and enjoyed it immensely. Once the first raft of Penguins were home safe, the staff continued their talk, providing scientific information, relevant live commentary, and many fun facts. We headed inside after over 300 Penguins came home, where we were able to see some of the research that happens there as well as some adorable chick's. On our walk home, we actually had our path blocked at several points by a miniature parade of Penguins. We absolutely loved this experience. There are no photos allowed during the evening so not to disturb the Penguins, however, we did get some photos of the Seals.
It was not a real sanctury but rather a half-half situation. The set up was kind of located in a natural site. You feel the penguins are walking in front of you as their daily life, and like you are in a parallel world sitting there watching them but not interfering with each other. Yes, it was just so amazing. I am not disclosing more here, but I would need to say here, make sure you pay extra to get the VIP seats. With that, you would be sitting right next to the path of most of the penguins coming home from the sea. If you pay the regular seats, you would see most of the penguins coming out from the sea but walking away from you. You would feel very disappointed and money wasted. You paid less but you would feel it did not worth. You would wanted to have paid more but had a great experience.
企鵝很可愛，VIP和普通看台其實差不多。但企鵝巢穴接近VIP區比較多，如果單純只是想湊熱鬧，建議買普通看台就可以了。
