This place is likely the closest to the natural habitat of pandas. As a visitor, however, I had a hard time climbing the slopes and looking for the pandas because the distance between each enclosure is very wide. The direction signs are not very clear as well and the terrain is quite rough. I would not recommend those with elderly or young children to come as it might be difficult for them to walk around. You may also want to consider taking the internal shuttle bus to the different areas, which meant less climbing to do. Transport-wise, I was misled by the posts in XHS stating that there was a bus that comes from Chengdunan bus station to Bifengxia on weekends. When I arrived at Chengdunan, I was told that the bus does not operate anymore. Hence, I had to look for alternative ways and spend extra time travelling to the panda base and back. So if you have more budget or are travelling in a group, it will be wise to book a car instead.
