避暑山莊

I was a little disappointed by the mountain resort area itself. It is nice, but definitely not worth the entrance price. (First 2 pics) The summer palace in Beijing is really nicer. However, the Putuo temple, Xumi temple and the Puning were definitely worth the **. I loved them all. (7 other pics).

I found the Imperial Mountain Resort somewhat overpriced and a bit underwhelming for the experience. The entrance fee (over 300 rand, roughly $16 USD / ¥115 CNY) felt high, especially as large parts of the park are closed for walking due to fire control, yet full price is still charged.Some areas are peaceful and quite pretty, and I especially enjoyed the lakes and certain buildings, which looked beautiful at sunset with reflections on the water. However, other areas feel less well maintained, and the Mongolian section felt almost abandoned, with rows of old, dilapidated yurts giving it an empty feel.You’re also encouraged to use shuttle buses instead of walking, which adds extra costs, and many main temples are outside the park and require separate tickets.Visiting in early April may also have affected the experience, as it might be more vibrant in spring or summer. Overall, while there are nice moments, I found it slightly overrated.

It’s a nice park with some temples but it’s a bit overpriced in my opinion. There is nothing unbelievable in there. You can have a nice walk in the mountains but they ruined it all with a bus service and no real place to walk. It should be a nice quiet walk in the forest but you have to be careful not to get hit by a bus every 1-2 minutes. There is nowhere to really walk except along the bus road. The bus passes really close to you about 10 cm from your head sometimes. I wouldn’t go again! There are many places that are cheaper, safer and better. It’s also really crowded.
