天山托木爾景區曾是通往南北天山古代驛路木扎特古道的必經之地，當地人稱之為「新疆天山託木爾景區·大峽谷「」，維吾爾語意為「驚險，神秘」。新疆天山託木爾景區·大峽谷位於阿克蘇市温宿縣，距國道314線30公里左右，總面積200平方公里。
天山託木爾景區是中國西部較美的丹霞地質奇景、中國較大的岩鹽喀斯特地質勝景。天山託木爾景區有中國罕見的遠古岩鹽地質絕景、中國西部奇特的雅丹地質怪景、中國僅有的巨型岩溶蝕地質秘境，堪稱新疆「活的地質演變史博物館」。進入景區，猶如進入了一片精美雄渾的自然畫廊。新疆天山託木爾景區·大峽谷中山壁岩層分佈清晰，受擠壓形成的褶皺，彎曲的線條十分清晰，斷裂的岩石夾在山壁岩層中，在歷經億萬年的風雨侵蝕後，形成了絕壁高聳、奇峰兀立、形態各異、嶙峋怪異、色彩濃烈、千姿百態、五彩紛呈的奇特景觀。
新疆天山託木爾景區·大峽谷西北可以觀望到有名雪峰託木爾峰，向西可達温宿神木園，東鄰有名的夏特故道以及龜茲文化旅遊區，南鄰塔克拉瑪干沙漠。

A magnificent lunar or Martian landscape, resembling a vast tapestry woven from sculpted peaks, draped rock formations, and snow-capped summits. The route from Ridge 4 to Valley 3 is the most spectacular. It is a leisurely two-hour trek (following the 4-3-6-2 path).
The 60 RMB pass allows you to use the park shuttles, which run continuous loops between the entrance and Valleys 4, 3, and 6. These shuttles take you directly to the actual entrances of the gorges and valleys, saving you a 12–15 km trek along a dusty, barren track between the Visitor Center and the gorge/valley entrances—a stretch that offers little of visual interest. The shuttles operate on a hop-on/hop-off basis, allowing you to board and disembark as often as you like at designated stops.
