張掖七彩丹霞旅遊景區位於祁連山北麓臨澤、肅南縣境內，景區東距張掖市區40公里，北距臨澤縣城20公里，景區總面積50平方公里，遊客活動面積4平方公里，現為世界地質公園和國家5A級旅遊景區。
景區內有七彩雲海、七彩仙緣、七彩錦繡、七彩虹霞、臥虎峽、七彩敖河和萬象土林谷等7處觀景點，有神龍戲火、靈猴觀海、神龜問天、金蟾問道、大扇貝、七彩屏、睡美人、臥虎等景觀30餘處，是彩色丘陵與丹霞地貌的高度複合區。
彩色丘陵以其色彩艷麗、層理交錯、氣勢磅礡、場面壯觀而聞名。萬象土林谷丹霞地貌景觀區，群峰如林、疏密相生、錯落有致、造型奇絕、鬼斧神工，集雄、險、奇、秀、幽於一身。
晉升國家5A級旅遊景區和世界地質公園後，張掖七彩丹霞景區將以打造國際旅遊目的地為目標，通過深入挖掘和優化組合地域文化資源，以景區獨特旅遊資源和文化底蘊，將七彩丹霞景區打造成為西部度假科考型國際旅遊景區；以彩色丘陵和丹霞地貌為核心吸引物、體現地質資源美學價值和科考價值、以地質風景資源保護及開發為目的，地質觀光遊憩為主，文化體驗、民俗感受、休閒度假為輔的複合型旅遊景區。

則評價直立高聳的砂岩，就像一座幽深的古城堡遺跡，突兀地佇立在大地上，人稱「七彩丹霞景區-小布達拉宮」。 這樣的造型，是在流水侵蝕和風力吹蝕的共同作用下發育起來的。由於岩性軟硬不一，導致了風力吹蝕的差異性，結果形成了許多相對高度為10-30米的層狀墩台，構成奇幻的古堡造型。由於氣候乾旱，岩石上並沒有太多的植被覆蓋，就顯得更為彪悍、粗獷。

則評價近乎直立的巖層是褶皺的一翼，這是巖層的差異風化所致，相對堅硬的褐色砂巖因抗風化能力強，而被殘留在彩色單斜山頂部。在東側平緩巖層的襯託下，遠觀靈猴煉獄出重山，坐觀火海不知年；金睛火眼看興衰，幾經滄海變桑田。

則評價眼前這片傾斜的巖層，色彩鮮艷，在夕陽的映襯下如大海歸帆。從地質上講，這裏發育有一個向斜褶曲，而被為“帆”的部分。
鬆緊有度，最怕上車睡覺、下車尿尿的趕路團，但這次行程節奏拿捏得剛剛好！每天都有充足的時間拍照、探索，不會覺得倉促。該去的經典景點一個都沒少，還安排了好幾個一般自由行很難到達的祕境，絕美山頂觀景台，看到風景的瞬間覺得一切都值了！
Truly an amazing place! Must visit! The shuttle bus brings you to 4 spots where you can explore. Once done, just board the next available shuttle bus. Expect to spend about 3 to 3.5 hours in the park.
🌈 Zhangye’s headline act — and it deliversThe Danxia Scenic Area is the reason to come to Zhangye, and it lives up to every photo you’ve seen. Those s**ed rainbow hills are genuinely surreal in person. 🤩⏰ Go for sunrise. Two big reasons: you beat the heat, which is no small thing out here, and the low golden light makes the colours in the rock absolutely sing. Best photos you’ll take all **. 📸Getting there: A Didi from Zhangye is easy and straightforward. 🚗Plan for 3 to 4 hours — there are several viewing platforms connected by shuttle buses, and you’ll want time at each one.Don’t rush this one. ✨
Absolutely worth a visit. My son and I went on a Saturday evening in early July to see the sunset, and of course there were crowds, but they are well managed. Buses will take you to each section (4 in total). All the sections are beautiful, but the fourth has the widest views at sunset. Entering the park about 3 hours before sunset seems optimal.
A Stunning Spectacle – Zhangye DanxiaIf ever a landscape could be mistaken for a painting, this is it. Zhangye Danxia is an utterly outstanding natural wonder, and the colours truly come into their own at sunset, when the striated rock glows in vivid ribbons of terracotta, gold and ochre. For a different perspective, the nearby Binggou Danxia is well worth a visit, offering a more rugged, otherworldly terrain. A jeep ride through the formations adds a dash of adventure, and the tourist infrastructure is remarkably good, with plentiful cafeterias and plenty of convenient photo points. All in all, a first-rate experience.
