One of the Most Disappointing Hotel Experiences We Have Ever Had – Completely Unworthy of a Government-Owned 5-Star Hotel ⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price We stayed at The Ashok, New Delhi (3–7 August 2026) in an Executive Suite, paying around ₹17,000 per night, expecting the standards of a Government-owned 5-Star Deluxe hotel. Sadly, it was one of the worst hotel experiences we have had. Our bathroom had a major water leak, and despite repeated complaints, it was never properly fixed. As a result, my child slipped and was injured, yet the hotel showed little concern. We also had no reliable hot water for almost three days, had to change rooms twice due to maintenance issues, and eventually had to shower at a relative's house. Our children were refused access to the advertised swimming pool, with staff telling us it was a private members' pool, something that was never disclosed when booking. The attitude of several staff members at reception, the restaurant and pool was indifferent and unwelcoming. We spent hours speaking to multiple managers, but nobody took ownership or resolved our concerns. This hotel is owned by the Government of India and should be showcasing the very best of Indian hospitality. Instead, it fell far below the standards expected of a five-star property. I have formally raised this matter with ITDC and have video and photographic evidence supporting my complaint. I sincerely hope improvements are made so that future guests do not have to endure the same experience.

Deco are very shabby, hygiene is a disaster specially you can see dirts on bedsheet and blankets, don’t even mention other facilities. Bear in mind that you are spending a 5 star hotel room rate but live in a guesthouse standard “hotel”. 🙄
