新山特羅夫酒店 (Trove Johor Bahru)

Came in during the weekend for a one night stay. Good hotel staffs at reception, malay lady short hair greeted us with enthusiasm. we highlighted our hotel requests and they were all fulfilled. Rare for a hotel to accomadate this best. Location is great as well, walking distance to popular japan restaurant chain down the street. rooms are relatively spacious, wish it was abit cleaner for stains. hotel provides water dispenser. overall good stay.

Able to check in earlier in the morning 7am with rm100 top up. Booked another day on another platform and able to transfer over smoothly to another room. All good except for the dispenser that might be over due to change filter (April 2024). Drank some and felt wierd. The other room tastes normal.

All good. Breakfast was fantastic. Amenities were great. A smooth check ins etc. All staff were alright until I requested for a late check out it being a Friday and my spouse had to attend his usual Friday prayers in the mosque. So I told the front desk maybe till 1.30. He said yeah sure so we charge RM50 an hour assuming you need to stay till 2pm then it will be RM100. This is THE FIRST hotel had actually has a staff say that. You could be more diplomatic and more customer service ethics and turn me down nicely right? No you chose that way and I was so appalled and I said I do not want to pay any extra that is why a request for a late check out. We can’t because we have a full house. To which I understood if he would have said that sooner in a cs ethics way. No emphathy no warmth. Cold and his body language was like telling me to shoo away out of my face. That actually irked me. My spouse actually gave a piece of hard lesson to front desk staff unexpectedly when we checked out hours latet. The manager came out and we told him what happened. To sum it all, we shd identify who needs training and you do not need to use inappropriate language to appear/sound rude or unpleasant. Never judge a book by its cover. Anyhow the stay was alright. I recommend it.

Overall Ok maybe a 4 star hotel with all the photos would have expected more. Think is an old hotel and with renovation. The room is spacious however the room have strong ionizer smells during check-in, the floor mat is a little bit stain. The room slippers a bit too thin for us and no hair conditioner, maybe full set amenities are for 5 stars. But good things is that with gym room ,small swimming pool and breakfast so far not crowded and with all the varieties which we are happy with it.

We are happy with the hotel stay. Room is clean but the wall colour a bit faded. Rooms comes with Netflix and filtered hot & cold water which is a big plus! Front desk Mr Vijay provides great service to us. This hotel has a massage salon which are good and very convenient to hotel guests. Overall good experiences. However, the breakfast is a 3 stars standard for us. The dim sum section was not refilled at all. Quite disappointed. The live egg and prata session ok ok only. I do enjoy making the donuts. Conclusion: will revisit again but I hope the breakfast can be improved.

For those driving, the car park and hotel lift are different. Park at your own risk. Do be careful as the slope very narrow. Check in considered fast! Total 3 lifts, however one of the lift locked down and don’t know why. Waited for slightly longer for the lifts to reach your floor. Room conditions overall acceptable and there’s always room for improvement. The room don’t have a proper table and chair. Only one sofa provided. Lighting in the room can be better. It’s too dim. Basic amenities provided. Shower room don’t have door. It’s open concept. The slipper provided super thin. Wore once, then tear. Poor material. Bath towel used once then got smell and have to asked for them to changed. Our room included breakfast for 2 days. The breakfast for these 2 days are the same menus. We went down before 830am, and few choices of foods almost empty and nil replenishment was done.

The hotel is conveniently located near KSL City Mall, just a 10-15 minute drive from CIQ. The private parking is in a separate building, so you’ll need to take the parking lift to the hotel lobby, then transfer to the hotel loft to access your room. Breakfast was good, but it would be even better if the menu changed daily. The hotel offers a gym room and a swimming pool, though both are on the smaller side. The rooms are very clean, and one of the best features is the water dispenser in each room, which provides both hot and warm water for added convenience.

Many eateries around and even more so if you’re prepared to walk a little further to ksl / sentosa area. Hotel is old but considered one of the better ones around. However the water pressure from the shower appeared to be a little weak this time round.

1313房間有一個門可以聽到隔壁説話跟打呼聲，最糟糕隔壁的人鬧鐘從早上5點一直響到5:56分才停嚴重影響我的睡眠（我1:30am才睡下）半夜隔音幾乎不行。非常生氣😡！！
