There are only two toilets and one of them was unavailable to use for the entire day. A chair was set up with a sign blocking the walkway. That toilet has a bad smell too. In the other toilet, the lock is so weak that someone managed to open the door from the outside. The hostel is far from the main bus stop to Arashiyama as well.

My mother and I had a very comfy stay at this traditional Kyoto home in a residential area (FYI, the private rooms are on the upper floor. The staircase will be very treacherous.) The team was great and explained everything in detail. I appreciated that they took my mother's suitcase up as I followed behind. I liked the local neighborhood feeling compared to the buzzy central area, but you will need to take a bus from across the street to get anywhere before hopping on any train. Btw there was no shortage of places to eat in the neighborhood. (The 93 bus is convenient from the hostel because it will drop you off at the entrance of the Arashiyama bamboo grove.) I would stay at this location again.
